Ice Storm Accident

This morning I awoke to find the temperature below freezing while a light rain coated everything in a glistening layer of ice. Mornings like this cause me to dread my commute while at the same time they make me thankful for the 4X4 sitting in my driveway.

I had a safe commute but all were not that lucky. While waiting for emergency crews to clear the road from a multiple vehicle accident I found time to play with my traveling companion, my little Canon S2.

The rains continued throughout the day and by evening mountainous areas were beautifully encased in ice, but that must wait until my next post

I can't wait until I can finally get that Canon I've been dreaming of... then I can keep my existing camera in the vehicle with me so I will have a camera with me at all times! Then I won't have regrets of missing any shots.

I stayed in most of the day. It was like that all day here too.

Your photo makes me glad that 1.) I don't have a commute and 2.) I live farther south.

We listened and watched and sat spellbound watching the evening news anchor describe the kind of hell coming our way. My wife and I were at the tipping point of being terrified because we don't like ice on everywhere. Anyway, the delivery day came and I was up at a quarter till 4:00 a.m. and looked outside and sure enough the little Sergeants crabapple tree in our front yard was shining like an ice cube.

After that it rained a while and the sun came out.

Glad you weren't involved in the accident, Salty. Here is western PA we were in the same situation. My walking partner and I canceled and I was happy to sleep in a bit and listen to the school delays.
Happy Groundhog Day!
