SkyWatch Friday, Golden Sunrise

The Chesapeake sunrise that I experienced this past Sunday was so beautiful that I could not let it pass with only one post. Having lived my entire life in a mountainous part of Pennsylvania, I am accustomed to seeing the sun rise a considerable time after first light, however when viewing it over a large body of water such as the Chesapeake, the sunrise follows first light by only a few minutes.

This particular morning provided us with an interesting display. The eastern sky was partly cloudy, over head was nearly solid clouds and to the west dark storm clouds loomed. Although this is not that unusual what was unusual was that it stayed this way all morning and the heavy clouds and rain did not cover the bay until mid-afternoon.

During our drive home the cloudburst were so heavy that the traffic on the Washington DC beltway was frequently slowed to nearly a standstill.

I hear you! I live on a hill, and the sunrise is a slow and secret thing compared to what happens on the water.

I think this post is perfect for Sky Watch, it says it all this Salty. Anyone who visits your site and sees your pictures and reads you words knows your love of the outdoors. We get to know you for the hobbies you have, we find out about some of the jobs you have done. We understand that you will have seen many great sights in your life, you have been good enough to capture some and shown then on here for all to see. What I like today is how this sunrise moved you, you have seen many rise and fall... but something we can all see each day grabbed you and made you feel better for it.. Surely this is a true Sky Watch feeling.

How beautiful! I saw the Chesapeake for the first time a couple weeks ago during vacation. Unfortunately for me, it was very foggy that evening so I didn't get any sunset shots.
