A Canada Goose stretches and flaps its wings before resuming feeding.
I played hooky from work Friday and have spent the last two mornings on my favorite lake. The spring waterfowl migrations are mostly past me now with only a few stragglers still passing through.
Today I spent more time fishing and less time with camera in hand. Nice Bluegills were popping on the surface and a little finesse with a Rapala Floating Minnow was all that was needed for surface busting hits.

Beautiful picture! I think I've been married to a fishermen too long because I know what a Bluegill and a Rapala is. LOL
I don't know whether to LOL or say "awwww"!!! It's just a cute, animated shot, but yet beautiful at the same time.
I totally wanna play hooky with you! Photography and fishing - two of the greatest past-times ever! Bluegill is the best tasting fish too, in my opinion. Mmmmmm, making me hungry!
This photo is awesome, as always. I love your posts Salty!
You see such interesting things in the bird world in the spring.
Awesome shot - perfect timing. Looks like he wants to give us a big bear hug.

Beautiful capture
Salty, sounds like you have had two wonderful mornings. We all need a little refresher sometimes.
Beautiful photo as usual thanks for sharing!
Our spring migration is about to begin. I am sure I will be posting many avian photos. This a wonderful capture.
What a great capture! Kinda looks like he's ready to conduct an orchestra :).
Stunning shot. I definitely would've played hooky as well if the Bluegills were as active as that.
wonderful - fishng huh and how did that go??
Nice photo. It is a reminder that things go on if I am there or not. LOL
You know what they say:
A BAD DAY FISHING IS BETTER THAN A GOOD DAY AT WORK!
But it sounds to me like you had a great day of fishing & photos.
GREAT PICTURES!
Playing Hooky is Alright…
This coming week I will do that as well, mid the outside chores I will take a break and go to our farm pond and see if I can get a Bass or two…
Great picture, when we see our geese doing this I think of a conductor getting the attention of his/her muscians…
Excellent capture and sounds like you have two wonderful days on the lake.
Now that is another great capture!
Salty: Amazing capture, I've seen this happen but never had the camera ready. Great shot.
Fish fry tonight!!
Looks like that goose is checking out his reflection and doing a little dance. Hope you enjoyed your morning. My critter is here if you feel like checking him out!
What a wonderful action shot!
Hi, Salty!
I see you love those geese too. Mine are still settling in and the pairs are sorting themselves out, which means geese fights every morning and night as new ones drop by the beaver bog. I have always missed photographing those huge wings, so I really enjoy this. Gotta run now to see your mergansers. I have never seen such great photos of them!!
Great shot! Always love coming here to check out what you've captured.
This is a fantastic photo of Frankie. Yes, that's Frankie. I'd recognize him anywhere. He and his family live just down the block from us here in Canada. All us Canadians know each other, ya know.
Okay, so I'm teasing you, "pulling yur leg" as some hoomans say. I like to be a funny dog, arf arf arf. BARK.
I must agree with many who left comments before me. This really is a great photo. Very well done.
