Mourning Dove

Mourning Doves are quite plentiful around our area. As they are a hunted game bird, our doves tend to be a little shy around humans. This dove only sat for a moment until it noticed me, giving me time for only one frame.

I realize that many of you may think that Country Captures has became a bird blog but please allow me to say that I don’t think that this is the case. I find that my interests go through different phases with this being my "bird" phase. I must credit my good blogging friend
Abe Lincoln with drawing my attention to the wonderful world of birds. I have sat in awe viewing his beautiful images collected in his backyard.

Thanks Abe for the inspiration and for opening my eyes to this wonderful aspect of nature.

You are welcome if I have inspired you to collect images of things around you. The world is filled with things that are alive for us to enjoy. I just posted a couple of young starlings discussing the weather at their watering hole. I think I put it on my birds blog.

Salty: I would also have to give Abe credit for all the birds that I have shown on my blog lately. You did a good job for a one shot on the dove. This is all part of filming what is available to the lens.

Here's anothe Abe fan Salty... he is an insperation in many ways. I think another thing about doing birds now is that because it is breeding and nesting season it gives more of a chance to get a few shots off... keep them coming while they last.

Abe has inspired many of us in this little blogging community...and so have you :)
I had no idea that Mourning Doves were a game bird!! We have TONS in our neighborhood. They always look so SMOOTH...with every feather in place.

Great shot!!!
