Reflections of Summer: Painted Turtle

As the boat slid quietly into a small cove I spied this pretty Painted Turtle basking on a log. The lighting was good and I easily maneuvered into the best position for this reflection shot.

Many of the wildlife subjects I shoot are wary and difficult to photograph but that is not the case with the Painted Turtles. As long as one doesn’t make sudden movements or approach inside of their comfort zone these turtles are content to be the subject of many a blog post.

I haven't been able to see the painted turtles around here... I've been searching high and low this year and nothing... they must be hiding from me... perhaps they can see the glare from my camera! =)
Great photo!

That's a wonderful 'reflection' photo. It's so enjoyable for me to see things that I wouldn't otherwise have see through the keen eyes of others. Thanks for sharing your excellent photos.

Salty: What a great shot, the only turtles I have seen have only stuck their heads out of the water.

This is a wonderful reflected shoot, what a great job of sharing him. I had a few as pets growing up.

I love painted turtles - or any turtles for that matter. Your photo is wonderful. The reflection give us two for the price of one.

I like the scenery you captured in this shot w/ the turtle - the water, greenery and logs - adds a lot of interest!
