B&W Egret

The original image of this flying Great Egret showed very little color because of the strong backlight against a soft blue afternoon sky. After toying around with this image in Photoshop I tried a B&W version, something I very seldom do with my wildlife photos.

I like the results, do you?

Captured at Lake Marion, Florida.

I love the results. I assume you were flying right alongside with a camera sandy

I'm the same as you: I avoid doctoring photos because I can't remember which ones I photoshopped after the fact. But there are times that I do, to capture an effect or highlight an element within. Great article in time this week about "reverse evolution" and how hunting "prize game" has caused a reverse in preferred genes in rams, bucks, etc. You'd enjoy it. Actually, that was Newsweek, not Time.

Salty: I do like the results but it looks so much like a heron in this shot. You captured it beautifully.

You are so right FG, my mistake!

Salty,
I think this works well in B&W! It emphasizes the bird's shape and plays up the lightness of the wings, Very nice!
