Freedom Skies

Nothing symbolizes Freedom more than a soaring American Bald Eagle

I photographed this beautifully marked eagle at Conowingo Dam, near Baltimore Maryland. Take notice of the white feathers in the wings and the black fringing of the tail; this eagle is making the transition into adulthood. Bald Eagles reach full maturity by five years of age.

Earlier in the morning I observed this eagle catch a fish and then alight in a nearby tree to feed. The poor lighting precluded any acceptable images but the light improved before it took flight allowing me to capture this image of the transitioning Bald Eagle.

Both are wonderful images. I have many hawks in my area but so far I haven't seen an eagle.

Very nice. We had similiar luck last summer while in Maryland driving around. We were directly across the river from quantico and caught an eagle in a tree. wonderful shot. www.wildlifeupclose.com

That's a wonderful photo of the eagle. His wings are just awesome the way they are perfectly aligned in a straight line.
Thanks for visiting my blog and you kind comments.
Enjoy your weekend.
Cheers.

Beautiful pictures! We have a lot of bald eagles where I live too, and I never tire of seeing them.

Great shots of this magnificent bird! I love the shots of the soaring birds. I have not seen eagles here in Frederick, mostly turkey vulures and an occasional hawk. And yes, I'm glad the snow gave us a pass this time. I can here the wind out side though.
