Cold weather doesn't slow down the frisky gray squirrels if anything their activity picks up around feeding locations. Whereas gray squirrels are active early morning and late evening during the warmer months now their active times begins later in the morning and dwindles in the early afternoon.
The squirrel pictured is busying itself shelling sunflower seeds. If you look closely you will notice the pieces of sunflower hulls flying from his paws.

That squirrel is sharp as a tack. Was that taken with the 100-400? We had a high population of squirrels around the house but the cat seemed to thin them out pretty well. I wish we had them again.
That is a great pose. We have a fox squirrel that is content to eat what is below the feeder and a gray that insists on climbing up into the feeder.

Wow that's THE shot Coy. Everything is perfect in that one, the background, the bokeh, the sharpness and the composition... I love it man!
OMG! I've never seen a more beautiful picture of a squirrel!
Coy, this is an enchanting photo of this little guy...love it!
Have missed coming here and talking with you and the Mrs...tell her I said 'hello'. I need to catch up with her, most definitely.
You are so talented..keep up the good work!
Love this perky pose and the shells flying too. its been a while since I visited. Always a treat to see your wonderful photos Coy.
In the summer I find the squirrels a bit annoying...eating up all the birdseed. In the winter I feel sorry for them and rather enjoy watching them from the kitchen window. Beautiful detail in the shot, Coy!
