The Fulton County Fair again featured Lawn Mower Racing as the Friday night headline attraction.
Some of these little tractors really fly. I have heard that some are capable of 70-80 mph although on this short track I don’t believe any approached these speeds.
I captured this shot set on a 1/50th shutter speed along with having the autofocus set on servo to give the background a pleasing amount of motion blur while maintaining subject sharpness.

Hey it took me a couple of days to figure out you moved! Duh! Ok now that I found you I am happy again.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo...Love the panning you captured that well. I saw a deal on CBS Sunday Morning this AM that some guy set a lawnmower speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats recently. 80mph. I can imagine riding a mower at that kind of speed.
Take care!
They better hold on tight!
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun. I like the demolition derbys.
ReplyDeleteHiya....swing by from Chad's and I can see your link of Abraham's blog of which I am a big fan :D
ReplyDeleteI am not a good photography but enjoyed looking at different perspective from your lens :)
What fun Salty. I love the fun races that happen at fairs. Nice stop action shot.
ReplyDeleteHay Salty,
ReplyDeleteIt's me from the picture! My kids were googling pictures of mower races and they got a suprise. We never expected to see any one from our races! We are racing again tomorrow evening June 28th at 5:00 P.M. As far as I know it will be open and free to the public. There is also a 4-H horse show in the morning and afternoon. Both are at the fairgrounds in McConnellsburg
