Ready to Rumble

This Shenandoah buck began to show signs of aggressiveness as I approached to a position from which I could shoot. My concerns that I had encroached upon his space evaporated when I seen the cause of his hostility was another buck approaching.

Although bucks will posture frequently very seldom does their behavior result in them coming to battle. Usually dominance is settled through aggressive behavior frequently accompanied by thrashing small trees with their antlers.

  4. The look in his eye is fascinating. The thoughts in his mind are even more fascinating. I wish I could read minds.

This old man's post brought tears on this Veteran's Day but not because I am a Korean War era veteran.

  5. Hi! I just found your blog and wanted to say I really enjoy your photos - especially those bucks!

I live in rural western PA. I have recently gotten the itch to hone up my photography skills - which are pretty much nil right now - and have been doing a lot of research and reading.

Thanks for sharing your great pics!

  6. Yes, great capture, the eye is enlarged, the fur up, the stance. … it's all there.
I remember when I was a doorman (bouncer) in my younger days... I was taught off one chap to look threatening. … he said if you can get that look right you'll have no trouble. … it works as well.

I'm so looking forward to this series of pictures from you and Willard.

  7. When you said "shoot" I wasn't sure if you meant shoot shoot or photograph shoot or both.

    Nice shot either way.
