Ursula's Tree

Our good friend Ursula had a problem. Her beautiful Canadian Spruce tree, planted beside her driveway, had grown too large. When it was smaller it had enhanced the beauty of her home but now it had grown so large that it was blocking her view as she exited her driveway. At eighty four years of age Ursula no longer could put up with this safety hazard. The tree must come down.

Instead of paying someone to dispose of the tree, Ursula donated it to her town. For this Christmas season it stands proudly in the Greencastle town square for all to enjoy.

  1. Boy that is nice. I am glad she did that. I just hope the city grinds it up and uses the mulch. That way it would serve at least two purposes.

  2. Aw...that is nice! It is definitely a beauty. You should make a copy of this photograph, frame it and give it to Ursula for a Christmas gift.

Hope you and yours are enjoying the season!

  6. I know how you can get attached to trees so I can imagine this was hard for her.....it is a beauty lit up in all its glory! I joke with Danny about his trees telling him he goes in to pure morning if something happens to one of them. I hope you have a very very Merry Christmas Salty!

  7. So sad that it had to end up being cut down but what a great photo to remember. We have a Douglas Fir in our front yard that my husband and his family planted over 55 years ago after christmas.

    Have a great Christmas!!

  8. What a sad and happy story. I agree with Lori, a great framed picture of "her" tree would be great!
