With outdoor photography it is often best to follow this little Downey’s example. Often the mundane appears quite different when viewed from an unusual angle
Yes Salty, I like that thought about approaching this next year from a new angle. Beautiful shot of such a colorful bird. Happy New Year to you too. Sue
Nice shot. It is also a reminder that this woodpecker and its mate are about all that were here until today and then the heavens opened up and we got a deposit of starlings and juncos and finches. The hawk was here several times in between snow storms but didn't get anything that I know about.
Thanks for your visits during the past year and I hope you and your family have a healthy and happy and prosperous new year.
This is wonderful. I love the background colors and the angle. Great thought to approach the new year from a different and unique angle. Thanks for the thought!! Wishing you and your family a wonderful and happy new year.. Aloha, Renee :)
LOL ... I posted a bird in an unusual position for my New Years post, too! Great minds DO think alike though, so no surprise there :)
Love the photograph. You know, the other day, I was curious and clicked on your "bird" label. And, after scrolling through two pages of bird-related posts, I realized that you have a tremendous collection of bird photographs! You capture their behavior, but they're always beautiful photographs too , its great.
The new header is quite handsome, Salty. I was looking at woodpeckers at my feeder today also. I always knew I had Downeys that visited but didn't realize there were also Hairys until they visited at the same time and I could see the difference in their size. Nature Knitter has been helping me with identification. Thanks for the great shot! Once again, my shots are from the other side of a dirty window.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate the visits and comments as long as the comments are respectful of others views and contain no profanity.

ReplyDeleteVery fun photo, Salty, and I especially like your clever incorporation of the Country Captures logo on the tree branch.

Hi Salty..
ReplyDeleteGreat post for sure.
I loved being here in 2007 so I know where I'll be in 2008 as well.
All the very best.
I agree...I am going into 2008 with an all new perspective from what I started 2007 with.
