Continuing on with my Florida Bird Series; we encountered a pair of Female Hooded Mergansers one morning. I don’t know where the boys were hanging out as the two females were all we sighted.
As I continue to work through the birds I photographed on this trip I am astounded at the variety of species represented around Lake Parker. I visited this lake three mornings and one evening. Here at home in Pennsylvania I believe I could pursue birds for an entire year and still not photograph as many different species as I did at Lake Parker in about twelve hours of shooting.

Cool hairdo!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I usually take my camera with me on my evening walk, but today I didn't. And wouldn't you know, I saw a pair of wood ducks, and a pair of green-winged teal in one of the stormwater ponds, where I've only ever seen mallards before. It just figures!
Ash,
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, the other evening while checking the cows I ran into a pair of woodducks that gave me a picture perfect shot, but you know it, no camera :)
It happens to all of us.
I know that you really enjoy shooting over there at Lake Parker.
ReplyDeleteNice green to the color of the water in this image.
What an odd looking critter> I wonder how it evolved to look like this, I imagine a mating ritual.
ReplyDeleteNice capture! ~I love the green of the water!

What fabulous shots you got in Florida, Salty! One more magnificent than the next. What a great trip you had!
ReplyDeleteThis is another exceptional shot. I also read the comments and found them so familiar. I try to take at least one camera with me but sometimes I don't and that is when I am surprised. I have even driven back home, got the camera and driven back to the same spot only to see what I was anticipating still being there was no where in sight.
ReplyDeleteAbraham Lincoln in Brookville, Ohio
These are stunning Ducks... we have a few pair on our local river and Peter seesthem mostdays but as yet toget a shot off that he really likes.
ReplyDeleteThese places are worth their weight in gold for bird watchers
Salty: We have a group of black colored Mergansers that work the lake I fish. They are very aggresive at getting fish. This one is very good looking.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I'll get some pictures if the lake ever melts.
My she has a fancy "do" there. You have captured such a variety of fowl while you were there.
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed this series.
Great stunning photos Salty.
ReplyDeleteShe is a beauty! I may have to put LAKE Parker on my list of places I want to visit!
