High above the Danger

High in a treetop, the Porcupine watches my every move

Tuesday I posted the photograph of this Porcupine taken when it reached the bottom of the tree while fleeing me and my camera. As the Porcupine climbed the tree it attempted to stay out of sight by staying on the opposite side of the tree. I circled the tree attempting to capture more photographs and of course the porcupine did the same.

Finally, finding a perch that apparently satisfied its need for safety the Porcupine allowed me to continue my photo session. Shortly after shooting this photo I walked away, allowing the porcupine to continue doing whatever that Porcupines do.

He is so cute!
I've never seen one in person. It looks soft and hardly harmful - not anything like I imagined.

Great photo - glad you were persistent!

What do porcupines do?

I've never actually seen one, so thanks for sharing.

I Beati's "sharing the love" post recommended a visit. Am laughing at your narrative. Can imagine the cat and mouse game you were playing together. And in the end, came up with a beautiful photo. It was nice meeting you. Have a wonderful weekend. Petra

Salty: Nicely done, sometimes you have to work for the perfect shot.

I really like this shot. I never realized they could climb. Just goes to show you really do learn something new everyday.

Oh my gosh - it is SO cute! I've never seen a one in real life before. You wouldn't expect them to be so cute, especially since they can be so painful ;-)

This is a truly fantastic shot!

Most of the porcupines I see are dead on the road. Its nice to see one a little more active :)

I heard from the grapevine that the little guy in the tree is really a porcupine model. He gets paid big bucks for posing. Be prepared to share the royalties from your photos, Salty.
