With the French troops arriving upon the field, the battle began in earnest.
With a crashing volley of small arms fire accompanied by the roar canons, the British troops returned a withering fire from the shelter of the redoubt.

ReplyDeleteRegarding this post. Great photos. I often wondered why lining up in a row facing each other and then shooting was ever a good idea. Or wearing the bright uniforms. Guess it had to do with bravery or something.
Salty: They sure used enough powder for you to see the "Troops in the Mist".
ReplyDeleteI guess the smoke could be a good thing or bad. I agree, lining up in a row with bright uniforms doesn't seem the best battle form.
