Pa Elk Viewing: a Family Affair
A beautiful non-typical bull bugles while facing the elk viewers along the road
The entire family can enjoy viewing Pennsylvania’s elk. Frequently they are sighted from the road. With their tolerance of humans one need not worry about spooking the animals as long as the viewers use common sense and do not attempt to approach too closely.
Amazing creatures and the size of his horns is quite daunting. Wonderful opportunity to see the animals so close.
ReplyDeleteSalty: They are amazing and I wouldn't get too close. I wouldn't want one charging me with those horns.
ReplyDeleteI really like this pose you captured - another view of that big rack! We are hoping to see some elk this weekend when we are up at our cabin.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures of the elk. Looks like you have been having a great season photographing the elk.
ReplyDeleteDid you scare him? :)
ReplyDeleteI am now located in your neck of the woods (so to speak). I have moved to the Baltimore area, and have started www.bwidailyphoto.com. Perhaps we will run into each other one of these days!
Great photos from the rut. It looks like you and Willard had a good trip. Since my wife only lets me do the west every other year maybe I will see you during the rut in Northern Pa. next year.
ReplyDeleteI've seen some really STUPID tourists though. They think the elk are just big pets and have actually tried to put their kids on the elk's back to take a photo! The elk in Benezette are pretty tolerant, but during the rut, I do not want to get too close. I may be crazy, but I ain't no fool!
ReplyDeleteThose antlers are just amazing. I love getting to see the fall colors in the background as well.
