The Wren will fly in nearby keeping a screen of branches between us while it tries to determine if it is safe to return to the nest box. On this occasion it flew into an evergreen and hopped about from branch to branch calling loudly. The heavy cloud cover this evening necessitated the use of flash and one shot was all I got. Although I sat for another 30 minutes the Wren had had enough.
Although I cannot see into the Wren’s nest I assume that young birds are present. The Wrens are now carrying food and visiting the nest with increasing frequency.
You captured some sweet shots of that Wren! They are fast little buggers!
ReplyDeleteThese are great captures! I just love wrens. We have Carolina wrens here, and I just enjoy their super-sized personality. I have only been successful photographing them from inside the kitchen window though. If I try to step outside, they are gone before I've finished turning the door handle.
ReplyDeleteMy wrens will nest just about anywhere and sometimes I worry about their choices. I sure do know when the eggs hatch...lots of noise in the nest.
ReplyDeleteNice shots! They are pretty elusive. We have them in our yard too, but we hear them far more than we see them.
ReplyDeleteFascinating creatures and wonderful pictures Salty. Your patience paid off .
ReplyDeleteMy house wren tried to take over a blue bird house but left it to the sparrows who have a nest in it. I am not sure where the wrens nested.
ReplyDeleteI like to take photos of the creatures at night but I am limited to what equipment I got so it usually means no photos.
Salty: What a neat shot, I saw one on my deck but it didn't stay long.
