Drawing to a Close

Chilly nights and cool days signal the ending of yet another summer.  The grape vines are heavily laden with fruit as the leaves begin to turn brown.

Wild flowers still bloom but not with the profusion of a few weeks ago

Hummingbird visits to the feeders have dropped dramatically indicating that their autumn migration has begun.

Autumn holds much promise; promise of natural beauty far exceeding anything the other seasons can offer, but her beauty is fleeting as the cold gray days of winter rush in upon her heels.  It is with some regret that I bid summer good-by but at the same time anticipate the coming autumn splendor with eagerness.

  2. I love your attitude, as you regretfully farewell one friend, you joyfully greet another. This is, after all what the seasons teach us that life is ever changing and still the same.
    Wonderful hummingbird shot!!!
The first shot with the nesting box and grape vine heavy with fruit in the golden light personifies autumnal wealth and the ragged daisy the end of careless summer.
    A wonderful post Coy.

  5. Gee Coy, I sense a bit of poetry behind all the beautiful photography. Perhaps another career as a poet?

  6. Beautiful photos and thoughts. Our leaves are falling rapidly and winter won't be far behind. We're heading down to the swap meet at Hershey the beginning of October so we'll catch some of your fall color and hopefully some up in New England. When we get back to Alaska we'll definitely be coming home to snow.
