Meadow Grounds Lake: Becoming Smaller by the Day

As the draw down continues the Meadow Grounds Lake shrinks a considerable amount each week.  Since my work schedule keeps me busy through the week I have been unable to visit the lake during any fish salvage operations and have not spoken to anyone with firsthand information.

Here my wife stands beside the handicap fishing pier.  The full pool waterline is just in front of her right foot.

This shot taken from the west end of the dam shows the steep ledges that protected the spillway.

  1. That is not at all nice. Why are they drawing the water??
I hope there is a very good reason.

  2. Arija,
You can click the label "meadow grounds lake" to read my earlier post on this situation. In short the dam has a seepage problem and the agency responsible, the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, had decided to drain the lake, conduct a study of the problem, engineer a repair, and await someone to come up with funding.

  3. Oh my, that's so sad. I hope they can come up with some money to fix the problem and refill the lake.

  4. Its sad to look at the pictures. Cant understand the government how on earth they can do this. You are a big county and should have the money to keep it.
