Who Am I

While out in the woodland yesterday I captured this little guy investigating the intruder (me) in his home.

Willard thought that it was on Ovenbird but upon checking it out in the Audubon Field Guide to North American Birds, I am inclined to believe it is a Hermit Thrush.

Captured with the Canon PowerShot S2 IS

I never heard of an ovenbird before. I have to agree with you that it looks more like a Thrush.
Wonderful shot. I love all the detail on the bird.

Great capture, makes me more hopefull with my camera, I would say it is a Thrush, very similar to our Song Thrush..

I don't think it is an Ovenbird as they have mostly pink beaks. The Hermit Thrush has black on the beak or is very dark towards the end. Their spots are more spots and not streaks. So I agree. I think it is a Hermit Thrush. You are reallu lucky. I have not seen one in more than 40 years.

It probably is a Hermit Thrush, but an Oven Birds looks somewhat like it. I have found a picture of an Oven Bird and it has a shorter tail than the Thrush. Although the tail is partly hidden in your picture, it looks too long for an Oven Bird. Based on the limited amount of pictures that I have looked at it is hard to tell the difference.

What a great picture! How much did you have to pay him to pose?

A few visits ago, Mom and I told Justin that he was looking at an oven bird at her feeders. He thought we were pulling his leg, couldn't believe that was the name of a real bird :)

Ah the rain forest cafe...yeah that would have been a great idea! ha ha. So you enjoyed the cookies huh? Thats great. I made them for Boss' day 2wks ago and everybody loved them. They keep asking when I'm going to make more. ha ha. Cute bird pic. I don't like birds...something about their wing span and when they fly, they kinda scare me. But nice pic. Have a great evening Salty!

Don't know what he is, but he's precious. And you've taken a lovely shot of him. I don't know the correct terminology but... bird/branches are clear and background is muted and lovely. Mmmmm....
