This morning gave me the opportunity to once again greet the dawn. Hoping for a brilliant colorful sunrise as the weather forecast called for storm tonight; I was disappointed when the eastern sky took on only a tinge of pink. As a back-up I headed to a nearby lake in time to watch the Canada Geese leaving.
This shot was only a small portion of the flock numbering in the hundreds as they lifted off.
In my youth Canada Geese did not live in our area and were only seen during their spring and fall migrations. Today a flourishing resident population provides watching and photographic opportunities year around.

Today i also took some shots of geese. I need to learn to set my camera so that it takes moving objects better, yours turned out very well.
When I was growing up during the late 1930s and early 1940s, the only time we ever saw Canadian Geese was in the spring and fall when they flew overhead during the migrations. I thought it was neat back then that you could barely see them and their "V" formations but you could hear them "honking" all the way down to my ears. Now, however, even here where I live, the laws mandate a certain number of ponds for a certain number of new homes built so we have ducks and geese all over the place. Sometimes in the summer they fly over my house in large formations heading out to the edge of town to eat new grass seeds growing beside the developments.
You have a nice photo there, Salty. I like it a lot.
Nice shot. Those geese are gonna wish they flew south today.
We have the Canada Geese fly over here as well. I like them. THey have tried to nest here on our pond or Creek, but our domestic Geese will not allow it.
WHich is fine by us, as they have been with us almost 30 years, I guess our geese feel it is their right ...
Wonderful picture Salty
My Aunt gets a few at her pond every year but I've never gotten one at my pond. Beautiful picture!
We get them over here in their 100s the farmers don't like them at all. Most farms around here are for sheep and cattle so grazing land is much sought after.. mostly by these geese... can you eat these geese? I don't know anyone that as... maybe Big Pete as, but he eats anything.. a proper cast iron gut hes got.. ha!
One of my favorite creatures here, Salty. Nice shot!!!
It's still a lovely shot.
And I love your new Header.
I see that you are able to get around blogger's new *rules,* about headers. I don't use one on my photso blog, but on my 'smilnsigh.' And blogger messsssed with my 'frosted rose' pic and I had to take it down. -pout-
