Damselfly

Today was the perfect May day, clear skies with white fluffy clouds and temps in the mid seventies. After supper I visited our local wetland.

The wetland was a hubbub of activity with a great variety of bird and insect life flitting about. While sitting along the water’s edge my attention was drawn to the diminutive damselflies patrolling the shoreline.

This exquisite little creature perched a few feet from me allowing me to capture a number of handheld macro shots using the 400mm lens with a 25mm extension tube.

  1. What a stunner...glad you had a nice day it sounded perfect... we had rain, rain, and more rain.. then late afternoon a thunderstorm which somehow I slept through... ha!

By the way... I look forward to seeing where Dorothy Bear turns up in the UK... Imac will make the perfect host and his humour will make for some great trips out...

  5. I like this beautiful damsel fly, Salty. I was just looking at one in blue that I photographed last summer or two summers ago. Forget which. They have amazing spiked hair on each leg.

  11. Great shoot! I have not seen too many yet this year. There have been times when our backyard looked like a damselfly ball, with so many "dancing"

  14. Nice picture!! I have tried to catch a shot of one this year but my lens would not get a good focus. I am a little new to wildlife photography and I have to say your blog is inspirational.
