Tropical Storm Lee

Hurricane Irene passed to our east with only outer rain bands giving us some much needed rain and the earthquake was pretty much a non-event but Tropical Storm Lee has delivered drenching showers causing some flooding.

Some localized flooding was occurring this morning

A creek bottom cornfield is inundated as Licking Creek overflows her banks

The intersection of Leese, Bull Hill, and Creek Road is impassable

No mail will be delivered to this address today

A few inches of clearance remain under this bridge however the water is bypassing the bridge flooding out the road on the other side.

Insisting to live in a streams floodplain is not without consequences

  1. Oh, my. It doesn't look happy for people who have to live with all that flooding. I hope things get back to normal soon.

  2. mother nature is very cruel this year - from one extreme to the other. texas is crying for your rain. if not for fields and ponds, for wildfire danger abatement...

  3. From needing rain to this is but a little step for mother nature. Roads can be mended but inundated crops are another matter.

  4. Sorry to learn you folks had so much flooding. For once, we in Western Pa. were spared.

  5. Water giveth - Water Taketh away.....It can be life-giving or life-threatening. We had much flooding this last spring. Hope all turns out okay for your area.

  6. Hopefully your area will not have too much damage from Lee. It is so sad to see all the devastation the storms have caused and even more so when parts of the country are dealing with drought and wildfires.
