Summer’s End

Another season has passed. Summer’s hot, hazy, lazy days are over.
Everything has its season and just as surely as the summer has
passed,
so has the useful life of this old machine.

Can you identify this antique?

Is it some kind od small hay baler? I'm such a city girl that I have no idea. I love the picture with its rust and bygone feeling.

My mom tells me it is a manure spreader. She knows these things, so that's my stab at it...
Great picture!

Luce, you will always do well to listen to you mother! She is correct. This is the remnants of an old horse drawn manure spreader. The steel wheels have formed plate treads riveted to them to provide traction to drive the spreader mechanism. This was spreader was made before the days of rubber tires.

Yees! My Mom is the coolest.
That's a pretty impressive piece of machinery.

I like this image. It a mixture of abandonment or time passing but feels very positive.
