Inquisitive Buck

During summer a whitetail’s day consist of feeding, resting and shaking off flies. The frantic days of the rut are still a few months away and the winter’s cold even farther.

I encountered this young buck as he was leaving the fields in early morning. After a night feeding in the dew covered meadows he is ready to spend a restful day laying up in the cool shade of the forest. I was pleased that he took a moment from his “busy” day to pose for this photograph.

He certainly looks in his prime. He has a pretty nice looking rack too. Good shot. I'm glad he posed for you.

Nice shot Salty. He looks as if he is as curious of you as you were of him.

One of the first sights that buck saw when he was a new-born fawn was a man kneeling over him with a Sony camcorder and a Canon 10-D. He knows what being photographed is all about.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

Willard, it is time you developed a blog and began sharing your fantastic collection of wildlife photographs! Your old 10-D didn't get the black worn off its edges just sitting on the shelf!

Salty - looks like all the Hills are deer people :)

Dad - I agree that you should join the bloggisphere. You could do a couple of blogs a day for rest of your life, just using the pictures you've already taken!
