I am so happy to finally know what these little beauties are called.. teasels. I've used them many times in dried arrangements but never knew their name. Thanks, Salty. PS: You are so right about my farmhouse....nothing is square, plaster is a nightmare, etc.

Thanks for your comment this week, and I was pleased you liked the WW2 Pillbox. I am glad I went back to take the other pictures, Jane came along as well. We came across an old church with a set of stocks outside.. ha! Jane had to model them... I was upset we did not come across a 'Ducking Stool'.. have you ever heard of these?
Your caption is a lot like some people: beautiful to the eye, but prickly to the touch!
This reminds me of the cockle burrs that we used to have on the farm. They would get stuck in the dog's fur and my sister and I would stick them together to make little animals from them. I'd forgotten all about that until now. :-)
Beautiful pictures! Teasels grow on the side of the highway and provide something pretty to look at all winter - except now they are under too much snow!! lol
