Migrants: Ruddy Duck

The autumn waterfowl migration is underway in our area. Many species of ducks pass through our area but never stay long.

While fishing I noticed a small flock of ducks resting in the middle of the lake. Upon approaching with the boat I was surprised to find that it was a mixed flock of at least four different species and this little female was the only ruddy duck present in the entire flock.

Very friendly looking duck - looks like he's bobbing along w/ the waves.

She's a brave little duck sticking it out all by herself. Hopefully soon she will meet with others! A delightful photo.

Salty: How neat, and a great photo with the water reflections. I saw an unusual duck the other day and it kept it's head down to make harder to see.

Nice capture of the lone duk. Interesting that it was a mixed flock on the water. Nice reflection of the duck on the wave.
