No other bird brings more color to the winter feeders than the brilliant male Cardinal.
Cardinals are year around residents in my area. Cardinals, Blue Jays, Juncos, Pine Siskins, Tufted Titmice and the Red-bellied Woodpecker have been my most consistent feeder visitors this winter. In previous winters I was mobbed by House Finches but this winter I have not observed a singe one.

My favorite bird! By far the most colorful visitor to my feeder also. I almost take them for granted until I get out of town visitors who are so enchanted with this beautiful bird.
A beautiful shot Coy, I have been enjoying all your back yard friends. I have all your house finches here, they hang out in the evergreens in the rear and the hemlock in the front. And they eat more than my son.
Unfortunately I have no blue jays or the beautiful little blue bird you posted. I do have a male and female cardinal the frequents the front feeder but want no part of me.
Heading to Middle Creek right now maybe I will get lucky today.
Lovely photo. I love how you got its crown.
Beautiful shot; I haev such a crappy camera, that all my birdie pics look like colorful blobs!!
Such a beautiful color, Cardinals.
Thanks for sharin' that, and have a wonderful weekend!
2favorites but the real favorite is below - the blue bird..sandy
I'm sure I have all your house finches. I'll trade you for a cardinal. WONDERFUL photo!!
I'm visiting your blog. Thanks for visiting mine and for your comment. I'm strictly an amateur photographer who gets lucky now and then. We had a half dozen Blue Jays several years ago, and I got some great photos of them. I've only seen the one Cardinal. But this photo of the male Cardinal is breathtaking. I'd love to see one (besides in photos that is). Stop by again, as I usually add new photos every day. I welcome your input.
This is a beautiful portrait of the cardinal and I love the catchlight in his eye....great photography.
