I encountered this bird while checking on our cattle last evening. These little speedsters are spending much of their time around the spring seeps in the cow pastures where earthworms are easily found at this time of year.

This is a very good picture of the Killdear. They are a very distinctive bird. I've seen them a number of times and get a laugh at just how fast they are. When they are nesting in the tall grass, Mother bird will play on the she has a broken wing to draw you away from her nest. It's interesting to watch Mother Nature in action.

Ours is back with eggs already. Hubby always marks the area as soon as the eggs are laid so he won't run over them when mowing. Yes, we still have patches that just won't grow grass. But that way we can see the Killdeer from the back deck.
