While walking along the berm of a local wetland a goose flushing drew my attention to this honker sitting quietly on its nest. She was so well camouflaged that without the other goose’s presence I would not have noticed her motionless form.
When I left the house this morning the sky was clear as the last stars twinkled out but before sunrise heavy clouds covered the sky not breaking until it was nearly time for me to depart.

Very nice shot...
She looks as though she is watching you intently, though..
Probably don't want to get too close to that Mama! Nice shot!
Yes, she is keeping an eye on you. Here in Chesapeake, VA we have Canada geese all year round and now the small goslings have appeared. I have noted that it seems there are very large broods with 15 or so little ones and two to four adults and in other areas the adults graze alone or in pairs. It made me wonder if they have hatched their young and sent them to "boarding school", or if the "parent-teacher association" simply rotates the daycare duties.
We also have a mallard pair that visit our back yard daily, but no ducklings yet.
What a great find! Nice shot..Happy Mother's Day!
Mama goose is watching over her eggs - and will attack at any moment it looks like! Best to keep the distance!
Nice shot!
Nice shot.It always amazes me how well they hide themselves, and how they stick to their nest!
She's checking you out!
Great shot!
It seems as though she spotted you! I always wonder how birds manage to sit still for so long without getting bored or cramped. Or if they experience both, but just know they have to sit it out.
What luck to see her on her nest! Probably a wise thing not to go any closer--geese can be quite ferocious when they attack, and it looks like she was watching you to make sure you didn't get too close. Nice photo.
she is well hidden, great catch
Great capture. The goose looks like it's ready to attack though. TFS
Well spotted! Great shot - it isn't often we get to see these critters nesting.
And the shot in the post below of the butterfly is awesome.
Salty: Nice capture in all the greenery. I have one nesting in a planter in a plater at a plaza near by. No hiding for that one.
Nice shot. I really like this.
