Honeysuckle
Back in the years of my childhood honeysuckle grew rampant in the fence rows. The lovely trumpet shaped flowers each contain a sweet edible droplet of nectar. I don’t remember who taught me the trick of picking the blooms and plucking the end off to lick the tasty droplet but I do well remember the taste of the honeysuckle on those long ago summer days of my childhood.
After making this image I again relived this old childhood memory by plucking a few of the blooms and tasting them again.
The honeysuckle is still as sweet as I remembered it.

We have Honeysuckle along our driveway and it smells heavenly! My daughter taught her daughter to pull and suck the nector out of the bottom. We would get a bowl and fill it up and have a honeysuckle snack!! ...debbie
Now that takes me me back a few years too Coy. Have not done that in ages. :) I love the smell of the honeysuckle and jasmin in the gardens. That little fawn below is so cute too.
Hi Coy,
I did not know them, so I'm discovering them... And I do it with a beautiful shot. Thanks for sharing this aprt of your life with a nice picture...
I remember taking those Honeysuckle flowers. There is not much to eat, but it taste's good. I still do it to this day when I come across it. I don't remember, either, who taught me about this. I think it might have been my one Uncle. In fact, I did it just about a week ago while down in the Middle Creek Wildlife Center.
Coy,
Talk about awakening old memories! When I saw that photo in google reader my mouth started to water for the taste of honneysuckle dew! I loved doing that as a kid. It was like free candy!

"Salty",Thanks for your comment in my Blog.
Beautiful colorful photo.
The honeysuckle is plentiful in our area this year. Probably due to all the rain. It smells so good.
Great little post. Love hearing your thoughts.

I was pleasantly suprised to find honeysuckle to be growing just outside my new home. The aroma is so lovely!
