Staying between the warm blankets is so inviting on a cold winter morning but to capture natures beauty one must rise early and be on location before the new day’s sun crests the horizon. With temperatures hovering in the teens I waited for the sunrise.
This image was captured shortly before the dawn’s first rays reached the mountain beyond.

I love the subtle splashes of pink warming up the morning. I can almost feel the chill and see my breath.
You are such a dedicated photographer, Salty! I was just thinking how dreary our PA winter skies are and that if I wanted to capture some pretty colors I had to rise pretty early. Well, that thought quickly left this empty little head of mine! Lovely colors in your shot.
This is a beautiful photo. I like the soft coloring.
Come on over and click on the link about Charley. I know you will like it.
This is lovely and looks a lot like our landscape at the moment, cold and icy LOL. I agree that there is nothing better than the morning light for photographs but I am not a morning person and have missed so many opportunities, which I regret, but then still cant get my butt out of bed to capture these moments!!
You are a brave man! I hate to get out from under the flannel sheet, and 4 puffs, on a colllllllllld morning. ,-)

The title of this post reminded me of an old girlfriend... boy was she icy :O)
Great capture..
I was out again this afternoon with Peter, we went in a woods I have not visited for a while, no wildlife about only a few small birds, but we got some great moss, fungi, and tree shots. I'm sure some of the pictures will be on show on both our blogs this next week of so.
