When viewed from slightly below the Lilies remind me of a band of trumpeters with horns raised.
Large patches of these hardy wild lilies are blooming abundantly along our rural roadsides.

Their early shoots are one of the first signs of spring to appear promising an end to the seemingly long winter. Now in early summer they are providing a welcome burst of vibrant color along our travel routes.

Salty: Brilliant photo of the lillies and an interesting post. Happy 4th to the family.
I find myself photographing these a lot! They make the perfect subject!
Lovely shot!
Beautiful trumpets Salty. I especially like the water drops on the blossoms. Nice composition.
Great shot
What a beautiful photo to go with Handel's "The Trumpets will sound..."
To see these in the wild must be very nice. we see then in the gardens and such but not out at the road sides..
yellow and orange or just orange
Hi Salty
Love the photos as usual. The orange lilly is called a day lily and also a ditch lily because they can be found on all the roadsides in the ditches. They make great subjects to shoot. I LOVE the snail shot, well spotted.
