And captures its prey with a quick strike
To us the great egret is a creature of beauty and grace; for its prey it is their worst nightmare came true.

Most of my photos are shot with a Canon 60D while some are shot with my older 30D which I utilize as my second camera in the field. Most of my wildlife shots are made with either a Canon 100-400 F5.6 IS L lens or a Canon 600 F4 IS L. Usually I shoot the lenses with apertures wide open to minimize depth of field with the camera set on aperture priority using the lowest ISO setting that will give sufficient shutter speed to shoot sharp images of the given subject. Seldom do I shoot either of these lenses without a tripod.
